Forward-facing camera and Driver-facing camera
By Navdeep Kaur
Driver Welfare
Forward-facing cameras are truck drivers' top choice for safety equipment. Survey results from the Canadian Commercial Carrier Journal (CCJ) and Lytx.
With almost 60% of the vote, forward-facing cameras are the most effective safety feature, followed closely by lane departure warning systems with 31% each and collision mitigation systems with 21%.
Drivers greatly benefit from forward-facing cameras, which is probably why this preference exists. These cameras can record footage that can clear drivers' names in fraudulent claims, spare them money on repairs, and even stop them from getting in trouble with the law.
Additionally, drivers love the ability to learn safe driving habits via forward-facing cameras, such as how to avoid dangerous behaviours like speeding and tailgating.
Even though cameras that face the driver have been increasingly popular in recent years, truckers aren't really fond of them.
Many people consider these cameras an infringement on their privacy because they worry that their actions behind the wheel might be recorded and used against them in the event of a lawsuit, regardless of whether they are at fault or not.
In the end, the poll findings show how important it is to involve drivers and listen to their concerns when introducing new safety features.
