The White Card is the ticket that comes before every other ticket. Nobody sets foot on an Australian
construction site to do construction work without one, which makes it the single most common reason
people call us. Ours is delivered face to face at our Mansfield depot in three to four hours, and you
leave the same day with your Statement of Attainment and your card, rather than waiting weeks for
something to arrive in the post.

Scope
What the White Card does and does not do
It covers you for general construction induction
It is the mandatory general induction that proves you understand basic construction site
safety, your duty of care, and how to identify and respond to hazards.
It is not a machine ticket
A White Card does not let you operate any plant. Forklift, excavator, loader, roller and the
rest all require their own separate training and, in the case of forklift, a licence.
It is not a site induction
Every site will still run its own induction covering their specific hazards, layout and rules.
The White Card is the prerequisite that gets you to that point.
In short: the White Card gets you through the gate. Everything you do once you are inside needs its
own ticket.
Course Content
What the course covers
WHS law and duty of care
Your legal obligations on a construction site, the responsibilities employers owe you, and the
rights you have to a safe workplace and to raise concerns.
Hazard identification and risk control
Spotting the hazards that actually hurt people on sites, and applying the hierarchy of control
to reduce risk rather than just noticing it.
Emergency procedures
What to do when something goes wrong: evacuation, first aid response, incident reporting and
who needs to be told.
Personal protective equipment
Selecting, fitting, checking and maintaining PPE, and understanding where PPE sits in the
control hierarchy rather than treating it as the first answer.
How It Works
Booked, trained and carded in one day
-
1
Book your session
Book online or call. Sessions run regularly and most people can get in within days
rather than weeks.
-
2
Bring photo ID
A driver licence, passport, Medicare card or adult proof of age card. You will also
complete a short language, literacy and numeracy check. Wear closed-in shoes.
-
3
Train and be assessed
Three to four hours of face-to-face training with an instructor, covering site
hazards, risk control, emergency procedures and PPE. Assessment is completed in the
same session.
-
4
Walk out with your card
On successful completion you receive your Statement of Attainment and your
construction induction card the same day.
Portability
Where your card is valid
The unit CPCCWHS1001 is nationally recognised, and a card issued in Queensland is accepted in every
other state and territory. If you move interstate you do not need to sit the course again.
One thing worth knowing: if you spend an extended period out of the construction industry, some
jurisdictions expect you to redo the training before returning to site. If you have been away from
construction work for a long stretch, check with us or your employer before you rely on an old
card.

Feedback
What operators say
I can’t recommend Great Heavy Driving School enough. From day one Nav made me feel welcome
and
confident in my training. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic. Under her
guidance
I was able to pass my practical test on the first go and would be more than happy to return to
complete
other qualifications.
Once you are through the gate, most people come back for a machine ticket. Our skid steer and excavator
course is the most common next step.
FAQ
White Card FAQs
Three to four hours, completed in a single session. You receive your Statement of
Attainment and your card the same day.
Ours is delivered face to face at our Mansfield depot. Face-to-face delivery avoids
the verification problems that have caused some online-issued cards to be questioned,
and it means you can ask an instructor a question in the room.
The card itself does not carry an expiry date the way a high risk work licence does.
However, an extended absence from construction work can affect whether it is still
accepted, so if you have been out of the industry for a long time it is worth
checking before you turn up to site.
Yes. CPCCWHS1001 is a nationally recognised unit and cards are accepted across all
states and territories.
Valid photo identification: a driver licence, passport, Medicare card or adult proof
of age card. You must also wear closed-in shoes.
No. It is a general construction induction only. Operating plant requires separate
training, and a forklift additionally requires a high risk work licence.
