Light Rigid (LR) Truck Licence

To obtain a light rigid licence, you must have held a valid car licence for at least 12 months, including the first year of the Green P. and also pass the Queensland Transport-administered Heavy Vehicle theory test. It's important to remember that you might choose to take the theory test on the same day as your driving test.

Pre-requisites & Requirements

A valid Australian Car Driver Licence that has been held for a minimum of 12 months
Secondary identification
Wear appropriate clothing, including with completely enclosed boots or runners.
English is the only language used for training and assessment; a functional level of English language comprehension is necessary.

Additional Costs

A mid-week practical driving test booking fee of $70
A mandatory written knowledge test $27.75

Do I need to have a special kind of vehicle for the course?

No, we provide training in vehicles suitable for the LR licence. You will practice in a vehicle that meets the requirements for a Light Rigid licence. If you prefer to use your own vehicle, it must meet the specifications of the LR licence.

How long do I need to have held my car licence before I can apply for an LR licence?

You must have held a valid Australian car driver’s licence for at least 12 months, including the first year of the Green P licence.

Can I take both the theory test and the practical test on the same day?

Yes, you can choose to take the theory test and practical test on the same day. We will book both tests for you as part of the Full Package.

What happens if I fail the written knowledge test?

You can retake the written knowledge test. We offer support and guidance to help you prepare and succeed on the second attempt.

What is included in the Full Package?

The Full Package includes 2 hours of practical training, booking for the written theory test, booking for the practical driving test, and all associated fees.

Is there any additional support if I need more driving hours?
