Great Heavy Driving School delivers nationally recognised forklift licence (LF) training in Brisbane,
combining structured theory with hands-on practical operation across three days at our Mansfield depot, so
you leave ready to apply for your forklift ticket.

Medical / licence
No driver’s licence or medical examination is needed for the training
and assessment itself. To submit your WHSQ licence application afterwards you’ll need a
Queensland Digital Identity and a customer reference number (CRN) from a TMR-issued card, such as a
driver licence, learner permit or proof of age card.

Getting Licensed
After you pass
Finishing your assessment doesn’t hand you a forklift licence on the spot. Here’s exactly how
your LF ticket gets issued.

Pass the assessment. You receive a Statement of Attainment from Great Heavy (RTO 45132) and a
Candidate Assessment Summary from your accredited assessor.

Apply to WHSQ online within 60 days of completing your practical assessment. You’ll need a
Queensland Digital Identity and a customer reference number (CRN) from a TMR-issued card. An
application fee applies per licence class, paid to WHSQ. Apply via the WorkSafe Queensland licence application page.

You can work in the meantime. Keep your Candidate Assessment Summary and proof of payment as
evidence you can lawfully operate while your application is processed.

Your LF licence is valid for five years and is renewed online through WHSQ.
Licence Classes
What an LF licence covers
Covered by your forklift licence
Your LF class High Risk Work Licence covers the counterbalance forklift, the standard type used across
warehousing, construction and industrial sites. It’s the ticket this course trains and assesses
you on.
Not covered by your forklift ticket
An LF ticket does not cover an order picker (LO class, a separate licence) or a telehandler (a separate
ticket again). Pedestrian-operated equipment such as walkie stackers and pallet jacks does not require a
High Risk Work Licence at all.

Frequently asked questions
You receive a Statement of Attainment against the national unit TLILIC0003 from Great Heavy, plus a
Candidate Assessment Summary from your accredited assessor. You then use these to apply to Workplace
Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for your LF class High Risk Work Licence. See After you pass for the full process.
Passing your assessment gives you a Statement of Attainment and a Candidate Assessment Summary, not

No prior forklift experience is required. You’ll need to be at least 18 years of age and have
sufficient English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) to complete the theory and assessment
components.
On the final day, our accredited assessors run a practical assessment against the national unit
TLILIC0003, confirming you can safely operate a counterbalance forklift, including pre-start
checks, load handling and stability, to the required standard.
