Medium Rigid (MR) Test

MR Truck Licence allows operation of a truck (including a prime mover or mobile crane) of more than 8 tonnes GVM with not more than 2 axles, with or without a trailer of not more than 9 tonnes GVM.

MR Licence FAQs

What kind of vehicles can I drive with an MR licence?

With an MR licence, you can operate trucks, prime movers, and mobile cranes with a GVM of more than 8 tonnes and no more than 2 axles. This includes driving with or without a trailer that doesn’t exceed 9 tonnes GVM.

Can I complete the theory test and practical test on the same day?

Yes! We can arrange for you to complete both the written knowledge test and practical driving test on the same day as part of the Full Package.

Do I need prior experience driving heavy vehicles to take the MR course?

While prior heavy vehicle experience is not required, you must have held a valid Australian car licence for at least 12 months before you can apply for an MR licence.

What is included in the Full Package?

The Full Package includes 3 hours of practical driving training, booking for both the written theory test and practical driving test, as well as all associated fees.

Is the MR licence valid across Australia?

How long will it take to get my MR licence after completing the course?
