"Did the HR license, 3 hours training and an hour test at Wynnum I can't recommend them enough. Their patience and explaining of truck operations are incredible. passed my test with flying colours with minimal truck experience. Also, epic beard to boot. Thanks Nav and family, you guys are amazing. I'll see you for my MC, forklift, skid and BFM tickets. Cheers."

"After 15 years of early retirement from the Defence Force my resume didn't look so impeccable so an opportunity arose to earn some money driving a truck but there was a catch, I had to get my HR license and that's where Great Heavy became the Key to unlock my new future, when every other Truck school said we are booked for months Great Heavy said pick a day next week, I paid and they delivered, it was almost that simple ! I had time to learn the test required by Queensland Transport and after a couple of hours getting to know the truck and my assigned instructor I passed the practical driving test and then the written test with ease, since then I have been rebuilding my life financially and socially. Looking back over the last 2 years and seeing everything I have accomplished it's truly been worth every penny"

Light Rigid Licence Course FAQs

Previous heavy vehicle experience is not required. Training begins with vehicle familiarisation and control before progressing to road driving and manoeuvres needed for the assessment.

The assessment checks safe operation of the vehicle in traffic conditions. This includes observation, road positioning, speed management, gear use (if applicable), signalling and general vehicle control.

Training and assessment are completed in a Heavy Rigid vehicle that meets licensing standards. You will practise mirror use, lane positioning and managing vehicle length to prepare for real driving situations.

Your trainer monitors your vehicle control and hazard awareness throughout training. The assessment is only attempted once you can operate the vehicle safely and consistently.
